Boyd's Iron Works
One of the most famous industries in Shettleston is Boyd's Iron Works. Situated where the large Tesco is now. Have a look at its entry on the RCAHMS database (there are some nice photos).

Brickworks
There used to be a brickworks just north of Shettleston railway station - known as Greenfield Brickworks or Frankfield Brickworks. We have been handed a selection of bricks which may have been produced there. To see the entry on the RCAHMS database click here

SHOPS IN SHETTLESTON PAST AND PRESENT
Kincaids Diary 667/669 Shettleston Road. The Kincaids bought the diary from a Tollcross butcher in 1950. The diary was famous for the sale of its broken biscuits and hams . The shop was demolished to make way for new housing.
James Kerr 865 Shettleston Road 1896. Tea Merchant. The shop is now Clydesdale Bank.
Calder Stores has been in Shettleston Road since 1979. Built in 1917 it was near Vesalius Street.
City Bakeries 889 Shettleston Road is now Ali's Takeaway food outlet.
Ross Dairy in 1936 is now a multi product supplier.
Alex Munro Butchers 1936. Now The Lucky Way Chinese Takeaway.
Bayne and Duckett Shoe Shop is now a Solicitors.
Henry Healy, a Fish Shop and another shop in shettleston Road in 1932-36 is now Barmados Charity Shop.
Nobles 921 Shettleston Road 1936 is now The China Shop
Broadway Cafe 1198 Shettleston Road 1938 is now Ruby Murrys.
